Mission Complete 👨🏻‍🚀🌇 Nissan Skyline GTR // This Hakosuka has officially been rescued thanks to our rockstar fab, paint and mechanical teams.

Fabrication

- Made new floor pieces from scratch
- Rebuilt cowl bracing and lower portions of the rear lower quarters
- Replaced inner lower quarter
 

Paint

- Media blasted underside and engine bay
- Color-matched and repainted engine bay
- Added seam sealer to underside; coated in color-matched liner
- Repaired and painted fender flares
 

Mechanical

- Removed engine, measured and adjusted camshafts
- Removed, disassembled and rebuilt gearbox
- Reassembled using factory and period-correct components
- Tuned and tested for optimal driving experience

The Stratos received the full Griot's Motors treatment starting with an in-house restoration and then a thorough sales listing for Bring A Trailer with every little detail in-check.

2025 Top Sales (( 2️⃣ )) The GT2 is already the fastest and most powerful of its class, but this pristine, single-owner example showed just 1,400 miles from new. It's the power and grace of the iconic platform immortalized with a Mezger twin-turbo engine, rear-wheel drive and six-speed manual transmission. This was the first sale to come through our new Car Buying Program.

Top Sales of 2025 (( 3️⃣ )) When your special order is so good it ends up on the menu… The rarest car we sold this year was a one of one, factory Marlboro Livery 2016 McLaren 675LT. It was specialty ordered in the iconic Marlboro chevron livery to pay homage to the McLaren F1 cars of the 80s and 90s. This idea later proved to be a hit, as McLaren started offering this color option on the Senna some years later.

If you’re heading to this weekend, you’ll see some Griot’s Motors handiwork on display with Porsche. We completed a full front nose refinishing including the front bumper, fenders, and hood along with a thorough polishing of this entire vehicle. Happy to raise this bar to show-quality on this already very nice Porsche 993 Turbo.

Classic Style 🤝 Modern Drivability

With the right approach, engine swaps seal the deal. Our advice? Don't let the pursuit of power overshadow the system as a whole.

Power is just one element of modernizing an older vehicle and it has impacts beyond the engine bay. Consider that added weight changes the suspension dynamics, and increased speed demands better brakes and tires.

The E30 wagon we engine-swapped is a great example of a balanced approach. The high revving S14 nearly doubles the power of the original four-cylinder, and while it’s not the most powerful option out there, the driver gets to enjoy a sharp, responsive engine and a seamless overall driving experience.

Project Update: 1971 Nissan Skyline GTR

It was a tough day when we discovered extensive rust throughout the floor of this GTR. The only thing worse was the shoddy coverup work. Little of the original floor could be salvaged which required new floor pieces be fabricated from scratch. Andy put the bead roller to work, perfectly matching the originals before welding for days to reset the clock on the lifespan of this Hakosuka.

Next Stop: Paint Department!
