In addition to his frequent Competition Ready Detailing Classes, Mike Phillips is also the instructor of a Marine 31 Boat Detailing Class, and an up-and-coming speciality coating class. Mike is also the host of Autogeek’s detailing how-to videos, the Autogeek YouTube Channel, and Autogeek's detailing tip segments which have featured on the My Classic Car TV show for 5 years. In recent years he has also been featured in tip segments on the TV shows Two Guys Garage with Willie B. and Kevin Byrd, Two Guys Garage with Bryan Fuller, Truck U with Bruno Massel and Matt Steele, and Motorhead Garage with Sam and Dave. Mike also hosted Autogeek’s What’s In The Garage? TV show which saw a successful two-season run on the FOX Sports Network. Mike gained his extensive detailing knowledge through trial and error and a drive to find the very best detailing techniques and products. He has been detailing since the 1970s when he hand-rubbed a three-stage process on his 1948 Plymouth Coupe. What began as a hobby has turned into a lifelong passion. Today, Mike is one of the foremost experts on auto detailing and paint restoration. Mike’s expertise is in machine polishing to remove swirls and create a show car finish, wet-sanding, cutting and polishing, and restoring original and antique paint on classic, antique, and special interest cars. Mike has over 500 articles to his credit and he’s constantly testing and reviewing products on AutogeekOnline.net. He has hosted two full-length instructional videos for Autogeek. Mike has taught countless detailing classes since 1987 and has been a guest speaker at numerous car club events and car shows. Prior to working at Autogeek, Mike worked at Meguiar’s as a sales rep/trainer for Oregon, Washington and Northern Idaho training body shop and dealership technicians how to use Meguiar’s professional detailing products. Later, he became the online administrator and instructor of Meguiar’s detailing classes. In the fall of 2009, Mike made the move to Autogeek.net in Stuart, Florida to take on the job of teaching our detailing classes and spreading good car care practices to detailing enthusiasts via the internet and television.
2015 has been a big year for Mike Phillips. In 2015 Mike became a certified detailer through the International Detailing Association (IDA), being recognized as a professional detailer and certified to train other detailers. On September 12th, 2015, it was announced that Mike Phillips and Adrienne "AJ" Janic of Overhaulin' would be hosting a new show on the Velocity Channel of the Discovery network - Competition Ready. Competition Ready will follow Mike and AJ around the country to get some of the world's most unique and expensive cars ready for the most prestigious car shows in the world. Competition Ready will air on the Velocity Channel in March of 2016.
