Line boring on a block surfing/boring machine? Why not. Roughed 8n within .0015 how off to the sunnen hone to bring to final size!

it's amazing to see how some shop let this pile of s**t put their door, let alone it lasted long enough to need done all over again, this time the correct way!

Just because someone claims they know what they’re doing doesn’t mean they actually do.
This engine came in with seven pistons installed incorrectly in the block, and the eighth was missing—likely headed the same direction. A mistake like that cost the customer serious money, a ruined engine core, and the expense of a complete rebuild. All because of someone else’s lack of experience and attention to detail.

Pressure testing the cooling passages ensures the block or cylinder head is sound before assembly. By applying controlled pressure, we can detect cracks or hidden failures and confirm the engine will hold coolant and operate reliably.

Apparently as the story on the internet goes these 379 blocks are rare

From early 1960s Buick Nailhead cylinder heads through mid-2000s GM Vortec castings, factory deck surface finish quality showed little real improvement, as evidenced by the common “zebra striping” caused by aggressive production feeds, uneven insert height, tool wear, and casting hardness variation. These finishes were considered acceptable because composite gaskets masked the inconsistencies, but they often fall short of modern sealing requirements. Current CBN and PCD tooling correct these issues by providing superior edge stability, minimal tool deflection, and consistent cutter geometry, allowing slower, controlled feed rates and repeatable surface roughness values. The result is a flat, uniform deck surface with predictable RA numbers suitable for MLS gaskets, eliminating the sealing risks inherent in original production machining.
