Diving into another first. Mocking up a front hydraulic lift system on this minty fresh C6 Z06. The goal is to save the carbon fiber front splitter from attacking driveways and speed bumps.
This is gonna be good.😊

🏁 Track Day Truth: Brake Fluid Is the First Thing to Fail

By MSI Motorsport

On track, your brakes don’t fail because of pads or rotors first —
they fail because of brake fluid.

No matter how good your hardware is, old or contaminated brake fluid will boil under track conditions, leading to brake fade, a long pedal, or sudden loss of braking confidence at the end of a straight.

🔥 Heat Is the Enemy

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time. That moisture:
• Lowers the boiling point
• Turns hydraulic pressure into compressible v***r
• Causes a soft or disappearing pedal under heavy braking

On track, this doesn’t happen gradually — it happens in one corner, when you need the brakes most.

⚠️ Common Track-Day Brake Fluid Failures
• Pedal feels firm early in the session, soft later
• Braking points move deeper each lap
• Inconsistent pedal feel
• Brakes “come back” after a cooldown lap

That’s not pads.
That’s boiled brake fluid.

🛠️ Track-Day Brake Fluid Guidelines
• Flush brake fluid before any track event
• Use high-temperature performance fluid
• Flush more often for:
• Heavy cars
• High-speed tracks
• Aggressive braking zones
• Multi-day events

Track-driven cars should never run old street fluid.

🧠 Why This Matters

Fresh, high-temp brake fluid delivers:
✔ Consistent pedal feel
✔ Repeatable braking points
✔ Better modulation
✔ Protection for calipers, lines, and ABS components

It’s the difference between driving at 8/10ths confidently and backing off because you don’t trust the pedal.

✅ MSI Motorsport Track Recommendation

If you’re doing a track day, brake fluid service is mandatory maintenance, not an upsell.

Fast laps require brakes you can trust.

Today is a new day at the new shop.
I still have some housekeeping and cosmetic work to do on the building but we’re back in business.
Alignment machine is scheduled for recalibrating later this week.
Let’s Go!
New phone hookup next week 🤞🏿

Does your brake fluid look like Guinness Stout when it should look like Miller Lite? When water contaminants exceed 3% it’s time to flush out the old fluid. This fluid pegged my meter at above 4%.

Is your Corvette running hot? This customer couldn't believe how much dirt and debris that was clogging the cooling air flow through their radiator. Sometimes you get lucky and can clean them. Unfortunately, the AC condenser was so blocked that we needed to change it as the blockage wouldn't wash out. Now the overheating problem is cured. Are you having this issue with your car?

Today was a productive day in the new shop. The move to the new Roseville location was made a bit more complicated when the old tenants still had not completely emptied the space, but my lease was up at Plumber way, so I had to move. Right now it looks like 20 pounds of stuff in a 5 pound bag.
Today I got the alignment rack re-assembled, leveled within 1/16”, wired, plumbed and operational by 6:30pm.
I’m going to sleep good tonight.

We have had many C7 Corvettes in the shop lately. This week we had two, back to back. You’ve got to be a bit patient setting the caster on the rear suspension.
