It’s not often there is an accident at the end of my driveway, but they seem to be doozies when they do. Not sure what was the cause of this couple going off the road, through the ditch, UP the embankment and coming to a rest next to the neighbor’s utility pole just after noon today. They went far enough that the driver was able to open his door and get out, but the side of the Audi is pretty well wiped. They mostly missed the pole (not broken) but did smash the conduit for the underground service drop. Fortunately the insulation on the wires was just scuffed, so no real electrical hazard was present. Waited for Green Mountain Power to arrive and give me an all clear, then winched it away and across the yard, no need to work in the roadway. After the owners got their stuff out I winched it backwards onto Beulah. No suspension damage to speak of so it was rolling fine. I sat in the driver’s seat to steer and was pleasantly surprised when the camera system came on and made it easy to guide the car onto the deck. Finally a feature of a German car that made life easier for the Tow Guy (not a normal trait, for sure, apparently cars are never towed in Germany and they are notoriously hard to hook onto). Notice the driver’s side camera wasn’t working for the overhead view, but I managed okay without it, LOL.
