Boats are hauled for the winter and interesting projects are happening in the SSVT boat spa. A 70's O'Day Daysailer with rigging needs and a 20' glider for some fiberglass repairs. Not pictured are all the small repair and varnish projects waiting for their TLC.

It's been a BUSY spring at SSVT but I took the time to go to NYC and watch the Sail GP racing. Now, it's back to helping local sailors enjoy their boats.

Got the call to rescue a capsized boat! Just goes to show- that in very strong winds-even a full cover can be too much sail area to have hoisted.

While waiting for the next Boat Spa boat, to arrive for SSVT TLC, a few small projects are getting taken care of. This week it's oars, paddles and such. Shiny bronze oarlocks! Going to look great with the refurbished oars.

The Tanzer 16 cleaned up beyond what we had expected. Very pretty now as she heads home!
New wheels, bearings, lights, bunk padding and a new keel roller for the trailer. While that was going on, the Tanzer was lifted up so the hull could be faired and painted. Once the trailer was ready, the boat was loaded and work began topside. New block and tackle for the centerboard was the big improvement there. Lots of compounding and waxing to complete the makeover.
There are a few openings left in the SSVT boat spa appointment book- it's time to give your boat some TLC.

Over due for some TLC! This 1974 Tanzer 16 arrived at the SSVT Boat Spa for some special care. Lots of washing and scrubbing, before going inside for more attention. Actually, the trailer is going to get as much focus as the boat.

After sitting in a field for three years, waiting for a new skipper, Kasie is getting the love she needed. A visit to the Smooth Sail Vermont boat spa! After pumping out, over a half ton of water, and a through cleaning, inside and out- she's feeling better already. All the teak has been cleaned, sanded and sealed. Rigging, plumbing and electrical repairs next. Followed with a polish and a fresh coat of wax before she heads home.

While doing a lesson on improving sail trim for racing, I got a chance to use some older technology to look for the course marker. I'm liking my binoculars even more, now.

Between squeezing sailing lessons in between rain storms, SSVT managed to get this Tartan 31 a fresh coat of bottom paint- VC17
During the rain storms, the galley Gusher pump got re-built and the Catalina 14.2 got it's epoxy problems resolved.
Lessons this week focused mostly on getting out and back into the dock slips. Nervous skippers to start- confident skippers now!
July is just about full and the august lesson calendar is getting it's first reservations filled in.

Fresh water to the galley sink is always nice. Water out of the bilge is nice too. Servicing the pumps isn't. If these pictures looks scary to you, send your pumps to SSVT and say good bye to that headache!
