Welcome to Herrod’s!

Pulling into a gas station used to feel like the car had an appointment.

The attendant came right over, not because you pressed a button or waved somebody down, but because that was just how it worked. He’d pump the gas, clean the windshield, check under the hood, wipe his hands on a rag, and somehow make the whole family car feel looked after.

Kids watched from the back seat like it was a little show.

The hood went up.
The squeegee came out.
Dad looked at the map.
Mom reminded everybody not to touch the windows.

It wasn’t fancy in a big way, but it was service. Real service. The kind where someone actually noticed the car, the trip, and the people inside it.
