We went pretty deep into this 2011 Corvette!
This wasn’t just a speaker replacement. We completely overhauled the audio system, added modern technology, and improved the environment the speakers have to work in.
Starting up front, we installed Audison Prima 8” woofers paired with their 2” wideband speakers. The Corvette has a unique front speaker configuration, and we wanted to take full advantage of it.
Having an 8” woofer up front is a big deal! Compared to a typical 6.5” speaker, the larger cone area gives us more potential for strong, controlled midbass. That means more impact from drums, bass guitars, and lower vocal frequencies. The 2” widebands handle much of the upper frequency range, helping create a detailed, cohesive front soundstage.
Powering everything is an Audison DSP amplifier, giving us precise control over crossovers, equalization, and time alignment to tune the system specifically for the Corvette’s interior.
Audison Prima 5.25” rear speakers round out the system, while a JL Audio Stealthbox delivers the deep bass without taking up valuable cargo space.
But we didn’t stop there!
We treated the entire vehicle with Hushmat. Corvettes aren’t exactly known for being quiet, and road and tire noise can compete with your music. Hushmat helps reduce vibrations, panel resonance, and unwanted noise while giving the speakers a better environment to perform in.
Finally, we installed a Kenwood DMX958XR with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and multiview front and rear cameras.
There’s a lot of equipment in this build, but the real magic is how it all works together. From sound treatment and speaker selection to amplification and tuning, every part has a purpose.
