Removing the old broken ice maker for a fridge. Seems simple enough right? Just trim a little and set it in. Well...Youve heard the old adage measure twice and cut once?

This ended up being measure 43 times. Overthink about how its going to fit at least 15 more times. Bring in the owner and discuss options including aborting the whole project.. He says get cutting but the original white door needs to work.... Splitting literal hairs and fractions.

Finally today.... Take a deep breath. Pray a bit and Got out the cutting tools to cut more material in my entire career for one fridge. The smallest one available anywhere.

Yes it was stressful. But when it was done it was done... And im pleased with the results... The owners should be as well.. And the door worked!

I love reading the forums from time to time...

"My Mercruiser engine wont start. Any ideas?"

Swear it was quoted word for word. And THEN we get to read the comments!! So entertaining!! 🤣🤣🤣

When you have an annoying Volvo nuisance alarm and its low coolant, you cant just throw anything in the jug. The wrong coolant will do more damage than good on these. Luckily I had some in stock, gave me a chance for an early morning run on the lake before all hell breaks loose to test my work and then treated myself to breakfast out on Fathers Day. (And saved another Fathers day for a friend) We now return to hibernation with my wife and dog until Tuesday.

Im notorious for waking up in the middle of the night and solving a problem. As you know I have a dislike for engineers. This one was good..

A windshield washer not winterized split a whale fitting allowing water to enter the cabin thru a light fixture. Only problem is the hole to access was smaller than most human hands.. ugh...

Then I woke up! Went to work this morning and made a tool.. A Simple piece of aluminum strip with proper size slots to remove and re install at a distance.. Connor gave it a try and a half hr later told me it was awesome.

Love my 2am fixes when Charlie needs to go out anyway!

Lets talk for a minute about kill lanyards. You know the annoying red line? By law on Lake Norman it MUST be attached to you while underway. Whether its a ski or a boat. If it has one? It must be attached..

Now forget the law for a minute and Lets talk reality. Ive seen more videos out out of control boats lately because the owner/pilot was thrown over... The boat just circles at high speed and either runs over other boats, docks, shoreline, or God forbid the owner himself..

Just take a minute and use this piece of safety gear along with a life jacket.

You're not too good to use them...

Thank you...

Periodically I do a PSA (Public Service Announcement) So here it is again. I see alot of chatter about insurance and surveys and whos cheapest etc etc etc...

So heres what I tell you from experience: First know your coverages and deductibles as well as whats covered in a worse case scenario.. (EPA Haxmat and salvage coverages) The time to know is before you ever need it.

Second: Towing insurance and Salvage are two completely different categories when it comes to cost. I always recommend unlimited towing insurance with whichever company you choose. I dont personally endorse one because they are both amazing companies and I have used both.

Finally, The picture was my personal boat a few years back when she met her demise. Because I knew my coverages and costs when the call came in? It was much easier to say "you have all the insurance on her so raise it, tow it, and ill see you in awhile."

The time to know is BEFORE you need it.... Trust me on this one! Dont go for the cheapest premium. Go for the coverage that you can count on not tomkill your wallet... My coverages cost me absolutely ZERO out of pocket..

Before and afters of an electrical nightmare. The first picture says it all...
Tony, Connor, and Ben, have poured their absolute hearts into this job with oversight and design from the old man.

Everything is new, proper, and to code. Testing is almost complete and I need to make covers for the 120VAC panel back, and then we can hand it back to the owner.

I told the guys when dressing I wanted "artwork" and organization. If they ever got to a point they said "that will be ok" its not ok. They followed the design Im extremely proud of all of them on this job.
