TECH TIP: Don’t Ignore a Roaring Noise From Your Drivetrain

If your truck develops a roaring or growling noise while accelerating that goes away or gets quieter when you let off the throttle, there’s a good chance you’re dealing with bearing or differential damage.

This is something that needs to be addressed quickly.

Once a bearing begins to fail, it can generate metal particles that circulate through the differential oil and damage the gears and other internal components turning a smaller repair into a much more expensive one.

Hear something that doesn’t sound right? Don’t wait for it to get worse.

Call or message us today and let our team check it out.

Higher-mileage L5P Duramax that spends a lot of time towing? Keep an eye on those exhaust manifold studs.

Catching a broken stud early can help prevent additional damage and a more expensive repair down the road.

Proper diagnostics aren't always quick or easy but finding the root cause matters.

As you can see in this picture, sometimes getting to the bottom of a problem means removing a good portion of the dash just to gain access to the components and wiring that need to be tested.

We don't believe in guessing or replacing parts until the problem goes away. We strive to find the root cause of the failure and make the correct repair.

That's why we continue to invest in the tools, technology, information, and technician training needed to properly diagnose today's diesel trucks.

Whether we're troubleshooting an electrical problem, air intake issue, fuel system failure, transmission concern, or one of the many other complex systems found on modern diesel trucks, our goal remains the same: test it, identify the actual failure, and fix it right.

Good diagnostics can take time, but replacing parts that weren't bad can cost a whole lot more.

If your diesel truck isn't running or operating the way it should, call or message us today and let our team get to the root of the problem.

Sometimes the problems you can't see are the ones you need to know about.

As part of every vehicle we diagnose, we perform a complimentary vehicle inspection to help our customers understand the overall health of their truck.

During this inspection, our technician found these worn front axle shaft U-joints. This type of wear can be difficult to identify from the outside, which is exactly why a thorough inspection matters.

We spend time training our technicians not only on what to look for, but how to efficiently identify developing problems, determine their severity, and make the proper recommendation to the customer.

Our goal isn't just to diagnose the problem that brought your truck into the shop. We want you to have a better understanding of the entire vehicle so you can make informed decisions about repairs and maintenance.

Once the inspection is complete, every customer receives a copy of their inspection report, including pictures and videos of the issues we find. You get to see what we're seeing and understand why a repair is or isn't being recommended.

Know what's going on with your truck before a small problem becomes a bigger repair. Call or message us today to schedule your diagnostic or repair and let our team help keep your truck safe, reliable, and ready for the road.

Not all filters are created equal, especially when it comes to your 68RFE.

We recommend using OEM transmission filters when servicing a 68RFE, and this is a perfect example of why.

This customer had a cheaper parts store filter installed during a previous service. Unfortunately, the sump filter began sucking air, causing a loss of proper fluid supply and ultimately burning every clutch in the input drum assembly.

The picture tells the story.

The top shows the friction material that came out of this transmission. The bottom hows what that friction material should look like.

A transmission service is meant to protect your transmission, not contribute to a failure. Saving a few dollars on a filter isn't worth risking a repair that can cost thousands.

Not all parts are created equal. Use the right parts for the job.

We stock OEM 68RFE filters for those who prefer to perform their own maintenance, or you can have our professional team service your transmission for you.

Give us a call today and take the first step toward keeping your 68RFE healthy.
