Sun's coming up, door's open, and we're super grateful for everyone's support.

We can see the state of the economy in how our neighbors come to us with car problems. Dealerships are getting fewer cars in, but they are trying to make the same amount of money. We've seen repair estimates really jump in price lately.

We added it up. Last week, we saved our neighbors about $7,000 on their car repairs. And just about every dollar we earned stayed right here in our community, supporting other local businesses and working families.

To everyone who's trusted us with your cars, sent your friends our way, or chosen to support a small, independent shop, thank you SO MUCH!

This exhaust is exhausted. You’re supposed to be able to see through it.

So, as you’re working on your own exhaust, just know… Even your catalytic converter should allow some daylight to pass through.

This family had us plug some exhaust leaks in their daughter’s car. Well… we did…. Apparently those leaks were allowing the motor to breathe. As soon as we plugged them the car started running worse. Time for a new catalytic converter.

Caked in classics! Of course we're doing our oil changes, brake jobs, and suspension services for working folks cars around La Vista, Papillion, Ralston, Gretna, Millard, and West Omaha in general. But this morning we're blessed to have a shop full of automotive history. After muscling through the modern design flaws of newer production cars, it is a real relief to get out a couple of screwdrivers and go to town on things made to be maintained well. A Tasty, custom Chevrolet C-10, A creamy custom Ford Thunderbird, and a roaring Ford F-100. I love this place. SUCH a blessing!

So quiet in the mornings. :)

🚨 THAT DASH LIGHT DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN “REPLACE THIS PART.”

Your check engine light, ABS light, traction control light, or other warning light comes on… so you plug in a scanner and get a code.

The natural assumption is: “The computer says this part is bad, so replace it.”

Not quite. 😉

A diagnostic code is usually a starting point—not a shopping list.

The code tells us what system, circuit, sensor, or condition the vehicle’s computer has detected. From there, we have to figure out WHY it happened.

For example, a code pointing toward a sensor could actually be caused by:
🔧 A bad sensor
🔌 Damaged wiring or a poor connection
⚡ A power or voltage problem
💨 A vacuum or air leak
🛠️ Another mechanical problem causing the sensor to report something abnormal

That’s why proper diagnosis matters.

We use the information from the warning light and diagnostic codes, then combine it with testing, inspection, vehicle data, and our experience to determine:

✅ What’s actually causing the problem
✅ Whether the vehicle is safe to keep driving
✅ How serious the problem really is
✅ What needs to be repaired now
✅ And what can safely wait

Not every warning light means you need a major repair. But some absolutely shouldn't be ignored.

Our job isn't to simply read the code and sell you the part. Parts stores may sell you a part that is not what is actually causing your issue.

Our job is to figure out what your vehicle is actually telling us.

If that little light on the dash has you wondering, “Is this serious?” — bring it to Riddle’s Automotive. We'll help you get an answer.

Done Right. Fixed Fast. Priced Fair. 🔧
