Ford offered Sunburst Gold on the Mustang for 2000 only, and it didn't catch on, one model year, then gone. Saleen was pulling GTs that same year and rebuilding them in California, handing each car its own serial number and a dash signed by Steve Saleen. Gold on a Saleen was uncommon then. It's rarer now.

This S281 SC is documented as 1 of 13 in Sunburst Gold. Supercharged 4.6L V8, five-speed manual, four-wheel power disc brakes, and 17,431 miles showing. Dark charcoal inside, and the paint does the talking outside.

Designed in Detroit, built in England. The Metropolitan's bodies came from Fisher and Ludlow, while Austin supplied the 1500cc four and handled final assembly. For 1959, the Series IV finally got an outside trunk lid, earlier cars made you load luggage through the rear seatback, along with front vent windows. It worked: 1959 became the Metropolitan's strongest sales year in the States.

This one leans all the way into the era, orange outside and orange houndstooth cloth inside. The 1500cc carbureted four still breathes through a stock exhaust and sends power back through the 3-speed manual. Thirteen-inch wheels, an AM radio, heat and defrost round out the package.
