It's Finally Race Day for the Hy-Vee PERKS 40 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Jacksonville Speedway!
Thanks to everyone who has stuck by us in finding a night to make this happen. Hoping we can enjoy a safe night of watching the best sprint car racers in the world put on a show we will talk about for another year.
While we've tried to tend to every last detail, a few things to be aware of:
1. The damn birds that hang out in the rafters have seemingly not been experiencing any constipation this Spring. And while we typically can hose off our seats prior to a big event, I've had tape and names on seats for a month now and can't clean the boards without re-doing all of that work. There's a chance they've left their mark your seat. You are free to bring a blanket to sit on - just don't use more space than 2ft per person please!
2. While the weather looks to be perfect, the winds tonight will be out of the East and blowing toward the grandstand. (won't be heavy but you might notice it). We pride ourselves in usually letting you get home and get in bed without needing to shower first. We aren't making that promise tonight, but we will work hard on keeping it to a minimum. If you insist in dressing in white, our pit bleachers might be the place for you tonight!
3. As is the rule every year for this event, if you have a pit pass, you cannot sit in the main grandstand. You can come over to the grandstand area for the midway, better restrooms, more food/beverage variety, but the main grandstand is full with those who purchased those tickets. We will be checking armbands.
4. Once you are inside the grandstand if you have a General Admission ticket, please make sure you get your hand marked if you go back out to your car or midway. You can only exit through the normal "main entrance" to the grandstand (middle by ramp). That's our "out" door tonight where you can get marked for re-entry. We won't be arm-banding our grandstand ticket holders to help you get in quicker. We will mark you as you leave for re-entry.
5. Please respect the seats marked with blue tape. Those are reserved. There is plenty of room and plenty of great seats for general admission ticket holders. Nothing has changed from prior years. Same building. Same number of tickets sold. Math doesn't change. There is plenty of room for you to sit without sitting in someone's reserved seat.
6. Please don't be an idiot when you park. Make sure the car you are parking behind can get out and isn't blocked-in. If it's 6:59 and you think you've hit the jackpot with the perfect empty spot right in front of the door - there's probably a good reason that spot is open. It seems like every race I watch is full of "Can the guy with the 1980 Chevy Truck with camper on top and Bobby Unser/Ascot Park bumper stickers please move your vehicle out of the staging area please!" type of announcements. Let's not be that place tonight!
7. Everything won't be perfect. We can't know what it is until it happens. But if you called me 3 months ago asking me for a special request - I think I wrote it down and have it on my list for tonight - but I'm not promising anything. If something isn't right, text me at 217-371-3653 and we will figure it out. Nobody is there to make your night difficult, but they are also there to make sure the whole City doesn't walk in free saying "Kenny told me I could."
Thank you again. Can't wait to do it again tonight! See you soon!
