DIAGNOSING THE DESCRIPTION

“It wobbles like a shopping cart with a bad wheel, squeaks through every aisle and gets stuck when you’re trying to do a u-turn in the seasonal aisle at Dollar Tree.”

What we heard: Tire balance or wheel bearing issue

What it means: One or more of your tires is unbalanced or your wheel bearing is worn, causing that familiar shimmy or vibration, usually felt in the steering wheel or floorboard

Severity: Tire balance, Low to Medium. Wheel bearing, Medium to High, and it climbs the longer it goes.

How long can you ignore it: Tire balance: It won’t strand you tomorrow, but you’re burning through tires and it won’t fix itself. Wheel bearing: Depends on how far gone it is. Early stages you may have weeks. If you’re hearing grinding, humming, or feeling looseness in the wheel, that window is a lot shorter. Don’t try to time it.

What happens if you do: An unbalanced tire wears unevenly and kills your tires faster. A bad wheel bearing is a different story. Ignore it long enough and that wheel can seize or separate while you’re driving. Neither conversation is fun to have.

TSC says: If it wobbles in the parking lot, it’s annoying. If it wobbles at 65mph on 68, it’s a problem. Come see us.

As we shared last week, Mason recently welcomed his son…and this week, Coleen got to meet him for the very first time.

Baby Cade Ezra carries her father’s namesake, as well as her son’s and grandson’s. Four generations tied to this shop, and a name that honors every layer of that legacy.

He got to meet his Nana. We wish Gramps could’ve been here too.
