When you hear the term "a bad starter", what is your first thought? Commonly it's the engine will not crank. In todays example we diagnosed and successfully repaired a 2011 Subaru Forester. This vehicle exhibited an extended crank with no warning lights or trouble codes. At times it would not start without "jumping " the battery.
Using advanced diagnostic tools we quickly determined the starter was drawing an excessive amount of amperage from the battery. This indicated there was a mechanical load impeding normal operation. Usually you can notice when an engine is cranking over too slow by how it sounds, that was not the case with this one. There had been attempts to repair this vehicle before making it to our shop. Luckily for the customer we were able to accurately diagnose it with our advanced tooling and testing techniques.
My fellow scope nerds, I left rulers up with some key values in our measurements. 🤓🧐

Ever thought your rear view mirror could cause transmission issues?
Well here at Logic Automotive we see it all. Equipped with OEM tooling and service information we tackled this Mitsubishi Galant that would not engage to Drive. It constantly showed reverse on the dash. After evaluating the factory wiring diagram we found that this vehicle at one point was equipped with an automatic dimming rear view mirror. That rear view mirror has a circuit that feeds to the transmission reverse circuits. After a windshield replacement someone cut off the mirror connection leaving wires exposed. This caused a short circuit which led the modules involved to perceive the car was always in reverse.
This car had many parts replaced before making its way to us. Another satisfied customer!
