This trailer was lent to someone and returned with the plug like this and some blown fuses. I replaced the whole 8’ run to the j-box and fixed everything else. Then he asked if I’d check his truck batteries. I can’t say I have ever seen the tops of batteries look like that. I fixed the corroded terminal and sent him to the battery store after work.

I’m seeing more and more of these. This was a trailer brakes stopped working call. I back pined the plug and put a multimeter and a load on the circuit. Nothing, not even a blip every few seconds to see if there is a load or not. It says “service trailer brake system”. So I go to the diagnostic scanner and see that there about a dozen codes in the TBCM. I can enable the trailer relay to turn and I get some functions back so I’m ruling out the switch and module for now.
This turned into digital troubleshooting and I see that there is something up with that left rear wheel speed sensor. I ran out of time today on that one so I’ll be circling back soon.

Take a look at this report. I’m pretty satisfied with the diagnostic ability on this “simple trailer job” and being able to shift gears that will lead to the fastest Posible diag and repair for my long time client!

I started a lighting project this morning that I’m excited to work on. It’s getting rear spots, front bumper light bar, and A pillar pods. They will work with the first 3 AUX switches and all have amber day time running lights when not being used.
I’ll post more when finished.

Here’s some finished work on the dump trailer. It had a flush cut brake wire that I needed to fix. I was able to get just enough wire to solder on and make the repair without pulling the drum. And there’s the magic number, 1 ohm. Exactly where it should be on a two axel trailer

I went to assess what was needed to get this trailer DOT compliant so he can get it written off by CHP.
I did a troubleshoot on this Western plow that’s leaking hydraulic fluid and diagnosed an inoperable horn on this Transit (dealer only part apparently).
