⚠️TRAVEL ALERT⚠️ | I-70 Floyd Hill near Idaho Springs

🔸9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 27, and Thursday, Oct. 30 - Expect 20-minute traffic holds for rock scaling and blasting operations above eastbound and westbound I-70 between the Veterans Memorial Tunnels and the Homestead Road interchange near Idaho Springs. Intermittent traffic holds on Central City Parkway, County Road 314, US 6 and US 40 may be necessary. Plan for delays up to 45 minutes as each traffic queue clears. Stay on I-70, and please remain in your vehicle during traffic holds for your safety.

🔸Sun Glare Safety closures begin in early November. In preparation for sun glare safety closures, CDOT and CSP will conduct a practice eastbound I-70 sun glare closure. The closure will take place 7 to 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, for approximately 20 minutes.

🔸Watch for daytime and overnight lane closures project-wide, Sunday through Friday, on eastbound and westbound I-70.

🔸9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 30- Expect a daytime and overnight closure of the westbound I-70 off-ramp to Hidden Valley (Exit 243) for utility work. Detour: Use the westbound I-70 off-ramp to Idaho Springs (Exit 241), then travel east on County Road 314 to access Hidden Valley/Central City Parkway.

🔸Next week, crews will shift westbound I-70 traffic toward the median on westbound I-70 between the Hidden Valley (Exit 243) and US 6 (Exit 244) interchanges. Watch for a new traffic pattern and drive safely.

Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) is a type of fuel injection system that is becoming very popular on modern engines.

So why move to GDI? By injecting the gas directly into the engine, the management computer can time the injection event more precisely. Also, the gas sprayed directly into the engine cools the compressed air enough to allow for better combustion. This adds up to more power and is better for a given engine size.

Of course, it's always important to keep your fuel injectors clean – but it's even more important for GDI injectors. When they become contaminated, the performance and fuel economy diminish.

GDI will continue to be more prevalent on everything from compact cars to pick-up trucks. Ask your Ski Country Auto Repair and Towing service advisor if your vehicle could benefit from a fuel system cleaning.
