We’re towing to VIR with the ultimate Defender: the 2026 Defender Octa. The uses a BMW 4.4L twin-turbo V8 making 626 HP and 553 lb-ft, with goodies like a 48V mild hybrid system and dry sump lubrication. Standard 8-speed ZF and AWD with low range apply here as with every Defender.
Land Rover tricks out the suspension, too. Height-adjustable air springs and hydraulically cross-linked adaptive dampers are employed - with no anti-roll bars. The steering ratio is quicker, and front/rear tracks are 2.7” wider than the rest of the lineup. Stopping power comes from 6-piston Brembos clamping 15.7” rotors up front, and single-piston calipers on 14.4” rotors out back.
Tow rating is 8,200 pounds as with every other Defender 110. The Octa uses specially-designed Goodyear 33” all-terrains for off-road performance. How do we think it’ll handle ? Stay tuned.
MSRP of this beast is right at $170k. Who’s got questions?
