Porsche PDK diagnosis and repair, in-house at Freed. Fixed with a Displacement Sensor replacement.
The displacement sensor (also called the distance or position sensor) sits inside the PDK and reports the exact position of each shift rod to the transmission control unit. The control unit reads it constantly to know what gear it’s in. When the sensor fails, that signal is gone: the control unit loses the gears, the car drops reverse first, goes into limp mode, and often won’t move once you stop. No warning either — a car can be fine at night and stuck in the driveway by morning.
Common symptoms: no reverse, limp mode, the car won’t move once it stops, or the dash reading Codes usually land in the P1731–P1734 range.
