Hello
The Nicholas Post LLC Exclusive: TJ’s Starter & Alternator
Small business provides unique repair service
TJ Perrine, owner of TJ’s Starter & Alternator, located on Webster Road in Craigsville,
rebuilds starters and alternators mostly for heavy equipment.
He says his business can save other businesses money.
“A cat starter can run thousands of dollars. I can rebuild them for less,” he says.
To do this, he takes apart the starter or alternator, diagnoses the issue, orders the made in the USA parts, cleans them, paints and then put back together the items.
Additionally, he tests starters and alternators for customers.
Also, he says, he fixes other things, such as space heaters, fill rite fuel pumps and farm tractor starters and alternators.
“ I love being my own boss and working at my pace,” he says.
The shop is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
“There is not a lot businesses in the area that rebuild starters and alternators,” according to Perrine.
He says he doesn’t really work on cars. And can’t compete with auto repair shops with starters and alternators.
Perrine, a graduate of Webster County High School, says he likes to work on heavy equipment and tractors.
For 20 years, he has owned businesses.
“ I had two businesses and ran both for years working on cars. log trucks and selling tires,” he says.
“We decided we wanted to focus on one business and not have me stretched too thin,” Perrine says.
He is married to wife, Geri Vincent.
They live in Cowen.
“I like working with the starters I like to rebuild things make them run and look like new,” he says.
Clients have given the business all five star reviews on Facebook.
