UPDATE:

We appreciate the support of our community, including donations we have received. The farm’s hay, grain, bedding and immediate needs are being met, and we ask that individuals hold off on any physical donations at this time.

This evening a team of WVU students assisted in setting up the Multipurpose Building, which temporarily house the horses.

In the coming days, we will assess the situation to determine any needs we may have moving forward. We appreciate all of the wonderful outpouring of support and kind words of our community. Thank you!

Earlier this afternoon, fire broke out in one of our older barns at the Equine Center located at our JW Ruby Research, Education, and Outreach Center in Reedsville. Our staff and animals are safe/there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

We want to thank our first responders and our staff for their swift action, and we are grateful everyone, including the animals, are safe.
