“But the damage was in the REAR… why are you calibrating the FRONT radar?”

GREAT QUESTION❗

Because ADAS doesn’t only care about where the damage occurred—it cares about where the vehicle thinks straight ahead is.

Some manufacturers require front radar calibration following any collision. Even a small change in vehicle geometry or alignment can affect where that radar is aimed.

At highway speeds, a little “off” can become a lot of “off.”

Zero Point Calibrations will make sure your vehicle sees the road the way the manufacturer intended—no matter where the impact occurred!

Wheel Alignment and ADAS: It’s a Relationship

Modern ADAS systems don’t work independently. Cameras, radars, steering angle information, wheel alignment, and vehicle geometry all work together to determine where the vehicle is traveling and where the systems should be looking.

If the alignment or thrust angle is out of specification, that information can affect the foundation the ADAS systems are working from.

A wheel alignment isn't always just about preventing tire wear or correcting a pull anymore.

Sometimes it’s the first step in getting the entire vehicle back on the same page.

Did you know vehicle modifications and accessories can affect ADAS?

Lift kits, oversized wheels and tires, push bars, light bars, bike/cargo racks, protective films, wraps, window tint and other accessories may affect how a vehicle's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems operate.

Modern vehicles rely on radar, cameras, ultrasonic sensors AND the vehicle's original geometry to operate systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, Parking Assist and Automatic Emergency Braking.

Changing ride height, alignment angles, suspension, steering, wheels or tires can change the conditions those systems were designed and calibrated around. Accessories can also obstruct or interfere with sensor detection areas.

As vehicles become more advanced, even seemingly simple modifications can have an impact. Understanding how a change or accessory may interact with ADAS is an important part of keeping these systems operating as designed.

⚠️ Ford Recall / Safety Notice ⚠️

Ford has announced a safety recall affecting approximately 741,195 vehicles due to a transmission-related issue that could increase the risk of a vehicle rolling away after being shifted into Park.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), damage to the transmission's park system could allow unintended vehicle movement if the parking brake is not applied.

Affected vehicles include certain:
✔️ 2018–2021 Ford Expedition
✔️ 2018–2021 Lincoln Navigator
✔️ 2020–2021 Ford Explorer
✔️ 2020–2021 Lincoln Aviator
✔️ 2021 Ford F-150

Ford will provide a free software update, inspect the transmission, and replace any damaged components if necessary. Until your vehicle has been inspected, it's a good idea to always apply the parking brake whenever you park.

If you own one of these vehicles, it may be a good idea to:

✔️ Check your VIN for open recalls.
✔️ Contact your local Ford or Lincoln dealer if your vehicle is affected.
✔️ Follow manufacturer guidance and complete the recall as soon as possible.

Check your VIN here:

We always encourage staying current on recalls and safety-related repairs—especially as today's vehicles continue becoming more advanced and technology-driven.

Modern vehicles rely on pinch sensors, anti-trap systems, and other safety features to detect obstructions and help prevent injury. These systems are commonly found in power windows, sunroofs, liftgates, sliding doors, and seats.

After repairs involving these components, it's important to verify that these safety features still operate as designed. A system may appear to function normally, but proper testing is needed to confirm it will respond correctly when an obstruction is present.

That's why post-repair inspections, initialization procedures, and functional verifications matter. At Zero Point Calibrations, we perform these critical services to help ensure vehicles are returned to customers operating safely and as intended. Because safety doesn't stop when the repair is complete—it includes verifying that the systems designed to protect you are functioning properly too!!!

GM Super Cruise is one of today’s most advanced driver assistance systems, using cameras, radar sensors, mapping data, GPS, and driver monitoring technology to operate safely and accurately.

Super Cruise can provide hands-free driving, automatic lane changes, and even emergency safe-stop assistance if a driver becomes unresponsive. That’s why after a collision, windshield replacement, suspension work, or body repairs, these systems must be properly calibrated and verified to ensure they respond as designed.

At Zero Point Calibrations, we perform ADAS calibrations and operational verifications on these critical systems because safety doesn’t stop at repairing the vehicle — it includes making sure the technology protecting you is functioning properly too!! 🚗

⚠️ GM Recall / Safety Notice ⚠️

General Motors has reportedly issued a proactive “Do Not Drive” recall involving approximately 66 vehicles, including certain 2026 Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac truck/SUV models.

The concern involves a potential drivetrain/transfer case manufacturing issue that could cause wheel lock-up while driving. While the number of affected vehicles appears limited, GM is taking the matter seriously and acting proactively in the interest of customer safety.

If you own one of the affected models, it may be a good idea to:

✔️ Check your VIN for open recalls
✔️ Contact your local GM dealer
✔️ Follow manufacturer guidance if your vehicle is affected
