Storm Recovery Complete!

Another successful recovery completed by TowBoatUS on the upper Chesapeake.

This pontoon boat was left high and dry following the recent storm, stranded well up on the shoreline and surrounded by debris and potential hazards. Prior to the recovery, our crew mobilized to assess the scene, locate the vessel, and clear obstacles that could have caused additional damage during the operation.

Using careful planning and expert boat-handling skills, our crew safely returned the vessel to the water without causing any further damage. Once afloat, the pontoon was towed and secured back at the customer’s lift, bringing this maritime mishap to a successful conclusion.

Recoveries like this require experience, patience, and the right equipment. We’re proud of the professionalism displayed by our crew and thankful for another safe outcome on the Upper Chesapeake.

If you find yourself stranded, grounded, or storm-damaged, TowBoatUS Chesapeake City is standing by 24/7.

‼️ ⚠️ Rescue on the Susquehanna River ⚠️ ‼️

At approximately 16:23 hours today, Captain Ryan was on routine patrol when he overheard a Mayday call reporting a capsized vessel with three people in the water near the mouth of the Susquehanna River.

Being only a few miles away, Captain Ryan immediately proceeded at top speed to render assistance.

Fortunately, the crew of the tug S. Martin Thorpe, which was operating nearby, witnessed the incident and quickly notified the U.S. Coast Guard while recovering all three individuals from the water. Their fast action and professionalism played a critical role in ensuring a positive outcome.

After arriving on scene, Captain Ryan coordinated with the tug crew and safely transferred the three boaters aboard the TowBoatUS vessel. He then recovered the swamped boat, pumped it out and towed it to a nearby boat ramp.

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the captain and crew of the S. Martin Thorpe for their outstanding seamanship, quick response and willingness to assist fellow mariners in need.

Most importantly, we’re grateful that everyone involved made it home safely.

Remember: Always wear a life jacket, file a float plan, and carry reliable communication equipment whenever you’re on the water.
