A leaking axle tube seal can make a mess, but more importantly, it can slowly lower the fluid level inside the differential.

As the seal wears, gear oil can work its way out toward the end of the axle tube and collect around the hub area. Left alone long enough, that leak can lead to low fluid, added wear inside the differential, and a much more expensive repair.

If you notice gear oil around the axle, a wet backing plate, or fluid showing up near the wheel, it’s worth having it checked before the leak gets worse.

A worn tie rod end can make a vehicle feel loose long before it becomes an obvious problem.

This joint is part of the steering system, and once it starts developing play, you may notice wandering, clunking over bumps, uneven tire wear, or a steering wheel that just doesn’t feel as tight and responsive as it should.

Steering components like this are important to catch early because the wear usually gets worse over time and can start affecting alignment and tire life.

If your vehicle feels loose in the front end or just doesn’t drive the way it used to, we can inspect the steering and suspension and find out what’s going on.

Rust and wear can make steering and suspension repairs a little more interesting here in Michigan.

With everything opened up, you can see just how much these front-end components deal with over the years. Tie rod ends, ball joints, steering knuckles, and other suspension parts all take a beating from road salt, moisture, potholes, and everyday driving.

When these parts start wearing out, you may notice clunking, loose steering, wandering, uneven tire wear, or a vehicle that just doesn’t feel as stable as it should.

If your front end feels loose or noisy, it’s worth having it inspected before worn parts start affecting tire wear or overall control.

We hope everyone had a great first week back to school!

Between school drop-offs, work, practices, and everything in between, your vehicle got a workout this week too.

Here's to a relaxing weekend!

With the valve cover removed on this BMW, we can inspect the camshafts, timing components, valvetrain, and surrounding parts for wear, damage, or signs of an oil-related issue. These components all have to work together with very precise timing for the engine to run smoothly.

Rattling noises, rough running, misfires, loss of power, or a check engine light can all be signs that something deeper in the valvetrain or timing system needs attention.

Regular oil changes with the correct oil are especially important on engines like this, because clean oil helps protect the timing components and all of the moving parts you see here.

This engine has a hole in the block from a major internal failure. Once an engine reaches this point, the damage is usually beyond a normal repair and replacement becomes the most practical way to get the vehicle back on the road.

Serious internal engine problems can start with warning signs like knocking, low oil pressure, excessive oil consumption, overheating, misfires, or sudden loss of power. Catching those symptoms early can sometimes prevent a much larger failure.

If your vehicle starts making a new noise or something just doesn’t feel right, don’t wait for it to get worse. Let us take a look before a small problem turns into a major repair.

Exhaust repair underway at Pro Auto Service.

A damaged or leaking exhaust can do more than make your vehicle louder. Exhaust leaks can cause rattles, ticking noises, unwanted fumes, reduced performance, and in some cases can allow exhaust gases to enter areas they shouldn’t.

From replacing damaged sections to repairing failed joints and components, we take the time to find where the problem actually is and make the repair the right way.

If your vehicle has gotten noticeably louder, developed a rattle underneath, or you’re smelling exhaust, it’s worth having it inspected before the problem gets worse.

A dirty or sticking throttle body can cause more driveability problems than you might expect.

The throttle body controls how much air enters the engine. Over time, carbon and buildup can collect around the throttle plate and bore, which may contribute to rough idle, hesitation, inconsistent throttle response, stalling, or even a check engine light.

When symptoms point in this direction, proper inspection and cleaning can help restore smooth airflow and keep the engine responding the way it should.

If your vehicle has been idling rough or just doesn’t feel as smooth as it used to, let us take a look.
