Over 200 million years ago, all the continents we know today were once joined together in a massive supercontinent called Pangaea. Surrounded by a vast ocean known as Panthalassa, Pangaea existed during the Permian to Triassic periods. Its gradual breakup—starting around 230 million years ago—led to the formation of the continents as we recognize them today.

The idea of Pangaea was first introduced in the early 20th century by scientist Alfred Wegener, through his theory of continental drift. Although initially met with skepticism, his ideas gained strong support in the 1960s with the development of the plate tectonics theory. This theory explains how Earth's outer shell is made up of moving plates that shift over time, causing continents to drift apart.

Strong evidence supports the existence of Pangaea: identical fossils found on different continents, similar rock layers across great distances, and patterns in ancient species distribution. Today, Pangaea remains a key concept in understanding Earth's geological past

You have seen sharks eat fish. You have seen sharks hunt seals. But you have never seen a shark literally vomit its own stomach inside out to clean it. 🦈🗑️🤮
Let us start with its diet.
The Tiger Shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) is famously nicknamed the "Garbage Can of the Sea." While Great Whites are picky eaters, the Tiger Shark will blindly consume absolutely anything that fits in its mouth. Biologists routinely open Tiger Shark stomachs to find massive sea turtle shells, dolphin bones, rusted license plates, boots, and even whole car tires.
But their bizarre, garbage-disposal diet is just the warm-up.
A stomach filled with sharp, indigestible trash and heavy turtle shells can be absolutely lethal, tearing the shark's internal organs over time. To survive its own gluttony, the shark employs a highly disturbing biological reset.
And then the real physical horror begins.
When the shark feels ill or overly full of garbage, it performs a process called complete gastric eversion. The shark violently convulses its body, unhinges its jaws, and literally pushes its entire stomach completely inside-out through its mouth. The massive, fleshy organ floats freely in the ocean current outside of the shark's face, instantly dumping all the indigestible trash. Once the stomach is rinsed clean by the saltwater, the shark simply swallows its own organ back into place and swims away!
So next time you feel sick, remember: at least you don't have to throw up your entire stomach. 👇

Mount Everest is the world's tallest mountain measured from sea level, at 8,848.86 meters. But the real giant is Mauna Kea in Hawaii. From its base on the ocean floor to its summit, it measures 10,210 meters, surpassing Mount Everest by about 1,400 meters. Only a portion of Mauna Kea rises above the water, reaching 4,207 meters above sea level. Mount Everest is still the tallest mountain on Earth, but Mauna Kea is the real giant when you consider its total height: a giant hidden in the Pacific Ocean.

You have seen ants bite. You have seen them sting. But you have never seen what is hiding inside the abdomen of this jungle assassin. 🐜💥☠️
Let us start with its loyalty.
The Colobopsis saundersi ant is a minor worker in the jungles of Southeast Asia, tasked with defending its colony from massive, invading weaver ants. It does not have massive, crushing jaws. It does not have a venomous stinger. It relies entirely on absolute, unadulterated sacrifice.
But its loyalty is just the warm-up.
Running down the entire length of this ant's body are two massively oversized, highly pressurized glands filled with a bright yellow, highly toxic, incredibly sticky chemical glue.
And then the real nightmare begins.
When the ant is surrounded by enemies and realizes it is losing the fight, it executes autothysis—biological self-destruction. The ant violently and aggressively flexes its abdominal muscles inward. The internal pressure becomes so immense that the ant's exoskeleton literally ruptures and explodes. The blast instantly kills the ant, but it violently showers every enemy in a six-inch radius with the toxic, sticky yellow glue. The enemies are instantly immobilized, suffocated, and poisoned by the blast.
So next time you see an ant defending its home, remember: this one is a literal, walking biological bomb. 👇
