🚌 BACK TO SCHOOL = BACK TO SLOWING DOWN! 🎒
School is back in session for many Whatcom County families this week, with even more students heading back next week. That means our morning and afternoon roads are about to look a little different!
As you head out the door, please remember:
🛑 Watch closely for kids at bus stops and crosswalks.
🚌 Give school buses plenty of room and STOP when the red lights are flashing and the stop sign is extended.
🚸 Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods — kids can be unpredictable!
👀 Take an extra look before backing out of driveways and parking spaces.
📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.
⏰ Give yourself a few extra minutes in the morning so you aren't tempted to rush.
And if you're a parent of a student driver, now is a great time for a reminder about school zones, buses, pedestrians and staying distraction-free behind the wheel.
