We will be closed tomorrow, March 4th, 2026, to Celebrate the Life of our team member, Justin James.
Justin had recently joined our team late in 2025, and was an absolute perfect fit. Justin had recently retired from law-enforcement and the first time we met him, he walked into the shop, looked around, and said, “you guys have my dream job!” After getting to know him a bit more, we realized that not only was he very mechanically inclined, having built several vehicles for himself and friends, but also was one of the most upstanding people you will ever meet. We were thrilled to have him join in the HMCS team. The kind of guy who just fits in immediately, is easy to be around, and you look forward to spending more time with him. Justin had absolutely lived life to the fullest – skydiving, running, riding his motorcycle, driving auto cross, and making the most out of every day. He was a genuine and caring person, caring for his dad in his home and making sure all his needs were met. Our team was so excited to have him for the short time that we did. Justin was a wonderful human, and we are devastated by this loss.

Heavy Metal Custom Shop will be closed Thursday, September 11th through Monday, September 15th for our annual corporate retreat. This is a time for our team and their families to recharge and connect.

Sadly, we have decided to thin the herd a bit.
For Sale: 1936 International 1.5 ton truck custom. Powered by a Cadillac 500. Runs, drives, wins trophies. Located in Bellingham, WA. 20k, serious inquiries only. Built by Heavy Metal Custom Shop. A few final touches to finish it up, but it’s been out and about plenty and is a crowd favorite. Will be happy to send many more pictures, video, you can talk with the builder. 1970 Jeepster Commando

This cool Jeep already had the lift and the look when the owner bought it, but the little Buick V6 and 3 speed just wasn’t cutting it for power or confidence in reliability. We brought the powertrain into the 20th century with a stock 5.3 liter out of a Chevy Tahoe and a new Aisin AX15 manual 5 speed transmission, mated to the stock Dana 20 transfer case, which we completely disassembled, cleaned up and resealed. To tie it all together from the drivers seat we installed a Dakota Digital instrument cluster so all the vitals can be easily and accurately read, day or night. The Jeepster now drives effortlessly, whether it be around town, on the trail, or down the freeway at 70 mph. It has plenty of power, turn-key easy starts every time, and nothing to give the owner pause before hitting the road.
