Ever feel like your car is possessed? 👻🚗
Before you start replacing expensive computers or engines, you might want to look for a hidden culprit: Engine Oil.
We see it all the time—valve cover gaskets or seals develop a slow leak, and oil starts pooling around the engine sensors. Over time, that oil seeps right into the electrical connectors. Since oil doesn't conduct electricity properly (and degrades rubber and plastic), it completely scrambles the voltage signals going to your car's computer.
The Ultimate Disruptor: The Camshaft Position (Cam) Sensor 🛑
It gets especially messy when oil leaks into your Cam Sensor. This sensor controls your engine timing—telling the computer exactly when to fire the spark plugs and inject fuel. When it gets soaked in oil, the timing gets thrown completely out of whack.
