You probably know the feeling.

The breeze seems fine, but the boat just isn't quite settled. You're carrying more helm than usual, heeling harder than expected, or constantly adjusting things trying to find the groove.

Before changing everything, start with the basics.

Look at your sail trim, check your telltales and pay attention to what you're feeling through the helm.

Small adjustments can make a surprisingly big difference.

And if something consistently feels wrong, that's worth a conversation with your local loft.

Every sailor starts somewhere.

For some, it's a local sailing school.

For others, it's a summer spent learning the basics with friends or family.

Whatever the boat, those first lessons stay with you. Learning to read the wind, steer a straight course, recover from mistakes, and, most importantly, discover the simple joy of being on the water.

Junior sailing has introduced generations of sailors to a sport they'll enjoy for a lifetime.

From the loft to the start line.

A few days ago, these sails were still being finished by hand.

Now, they're on the water in Cape Town.

The Lipton Challenge CUP is underway, bringing J/22 teams together for one of South African sailing's most historic competitions.

For us, it's also another opportunity to watch, listen and learn.

We've spent the past few weeks sharing some of the story behind our renewed focus on the J/22. This week, we're going to let the sailing do the talking.

One-Design racing is in full swing in SoCal! A huge congratulations to Keith Ives and Chuck Stevens, who took home their 7th win in the Cal 20 Class Championship hosted by Long Beach Yacht Club! Ullman Sails powered an overwhelming majority of the fleet, with six of the top 10 using their brand new sails made here in Santa Ana!
