🔧 MEET THE TEAM - PHIL 🔧

Apparently “meet the team” doesn’t actually require anyone around here to willingly show their face - so your official introduction to the man behind Bay 4x4 Centre is a photo of him doing what he’d much rather be doing anyway… in the workshop welding.

Meet Phil - Director, qualified Transport Engineer, resident problem solver and the bloke behind Bay 4X4 Centre.

And when we say qualified Transport Engineer, we don’t just mean he’s handed a piece of paper and told where to weld - he understands the engineering behind what’s being built, designs it, fabricates it and turns it into the finished product.

If you’re wanting a body chop done, this is the guy you want doing it 💪🏻

Its that same background that Phil has carried through to so much of what gets done here at Bay 4X4 Centre. From body chops and fab, to suspension, accessories and complete 4WD fit-outs, mechanical work and those weird jobs that leave the rest of us scratching our heads for a minute - Phil is generally the bloke everyone eventually goes looking for.

If there’s a problem, he usually has an answer. And if he doesn’t? Give him a minute, he’ll get one.

Very much a black-and-white kinda bloke, if something will work he will tell you. If something won’t work, he will also tell you. There’s not a huge amount of sugar coating involved, but there is a genuine desire to do things properly and make sure anything leaving our workshop is something we’re happy to have our name behind.

Outside of work, he’s severely outnumbered by 4 females at home, loves his golf, loves his Southern Comfort, absolutely hates fish.. and occasionally makes decisions that prove being a qualified engineer doesn’t automatically qualify you to make sensible choices.. I.e jumping off the roof into the swimming pool 🫠

(Yes, he has since been informed if he hurts himself doing dumb s**t, he’s going straight to a home - who says romance is dead ❤️😂)

So that’s Phil ✨ The boss, the brains, the engineering know how, and occasionally the reason the marketing lady needs a drink 🤭

Father’s Day is coming up this weekend.. and what does Dad really want?

A tie-down! Because nothing says “Happy Father’s Day” quite like giving him another ratchet strap to add to the 47 he already owns 😂

Perfect for trailers, roof racks, loads in the Ute… or just wandering around looking for something that needs securing.

And remember - the load isn’t secured until Dad gives the strap a good yank and announces “That’s not going anywhere!” 👋🏻

It’s basically the law.

🎁 Practical. Useful. Better than socks.

Meet the team - TL.

Well, apparently it’s her turn, so she’s given us this great photo of herself and to be fair it’s pretty on point with the height and the fact she cannot tan to save herself. (Think “sun?” *sunburn*)

Does she help with the tools? Only if she’s passed the tool she needs. She doesn’t know what they’re called, she doesn’t pretend to know what they’re called, and if one of the crew ever asks her to grab something from the workshop - chances are they’re both going to be disappointed 🔧 😂

Believe it or not though, she is a qualified butcher by trade - so if you ever need a stag broken down you can ask her to help - she can definitely identity meat cuts faster than she can tools.

Personality? Heaps of it. Mostly good, a bit bad. A bit bad? In the sense she’s feisty (short woman syndrome), black and white, fiercely loyal and sarcastic as hell. There’s not a lot of grey areas with the old girl - you’ll know where you stand with her whether you asked or not 😅

TL and the boss man Phil have three kids, so she’s always busy - but family is a huge part of her life. Lucky for Phil, they’ve all inherited TL’s dazzling personality - so you don’t need to feel sorry for him. She’s an Aussie expat who has taken to the Kiwi life, so trust us when we say the girl can drink! Water? Beer? Vodka? It’s all good for her. Downside is, she’s still convinced the West Island created the Pavlova 🤦🏼‍♀️

4X4 Expert? Nope
Can cut up a cow? Yep
Still proudly Australian? Bloody oath.
Could Bay 4X4 Centre and the household survive without her? Probably… but she’d love to bloody see them try 😂

🥇 Gold fever finally hit Bay 4x4 Centre

Hilux after Hilux has been rolling through the workshop lately, but then this MY26 turned up in gold - and let’s just say it definitely has ‘main character’ energy 💪🏻

The owner had done his homework on what he wanted, shopped around and eventually found his way to us! The result? He only had to sell one kidney, not two, to get his Lux looking this 🔥 😉

For this one, we fitted the Ali Arc Industries nudge bar, SAFARI SNORKELS & SAFARI ARMAX Armax Snorkel, Hayman Reese tow bar, bonnet protector and topped it off with the BlackDuck Seatcovers NZ seat covers. He’d already sourced his own Ute Master lid, so we said bring that in too and we’ll get it on for you as well 🤝

Because that’s the thing with us - need the gear? We can sort it. Already got the gear? Have a yarn to us about fitting it. You don’t have to make your build harder than it needs to be.

And apparently we did something right, because the cheeky bu**er had us a whole smorgasbord of bakery treats delivered to us last Friday for smoko 😂

Saved some money, kept a kidney AND fed the crew - now that is a successful Hilux build 🤩

Seeing as we introduced you to the newest member of Bay 4x4 Centre crew, we thought it was about time we introduced you to one of the main cogs that keep this place turning… 🔧

Meet Nick! - Well.. meet as much of Nick as we could get on camera. Apparently being a good mechanic doesn’t automatically make you a willing model 💅 🤭

Nick’s been with us since we bought this place in November 2022 - and (said like the proud ‘parents’ we are) he’s become a bloody capable mechanic and a big part of what happens in our workshop. From mechanic work and fault finding, to fitting and modifying 4X4 accessories - he’s definitely earnt his title as the OG.

If you know Nick, you’ll know he is as black and white as they come, knows his stuff and is an absolute Suzuki fiend. You’ll also know - he’s 100% a future Grey Nomad 😂

Give him another 20 years and we reckon not much will have changed. Add a folding chair, something towed behind the Suzuki, two beers max and a scenic DOC campsite and he’ll be living his best life. (Only if he’s in bed before 8pm though 🤪)

When he’s not at work, he’s still working on his own cars - going to war on Sundays, being the taxi for when his partner Shannon & our infamous Marketing Lady head out on the town, or hanging out with his & Shannon’s four legged child Naila 🐶 Yes, we can confirm, Naila and Nick are well matched; from loyalty right down to the suspiciously similar legs 👀

Underneath all the s**t we give him though, Nick is genuinely a bloody good sort. He’s the kind of bloke you want working beside you, the kind you want working on your vehicle and the kind of bloke we will happily call a mate.

He’s grown with us, stuck with us and we sure as hell know Bay 4x4 Centre wouldn’t be the same without him.

And yes, he will ALWAYS tell you camp is ten minutes away, even if it’s another two hours 😂😂 *shudders with flashbacks to one of our staff camp trips* (IYKYK 😅)

👋 New face on team Bay 4x4 Centre

You may have noticed a new face around the workshop lately… although with the long dreads he’s fairly hard to miss 😅

Meet Cam, the newest addition to the Bay 4X4 crew.

With a background in vehicles, he knows his way around the workshop and thankfully, is far more useful on the tools than our marketing lady. Albeit, that bar wasn’t particularly high, but our Senior Tech & Mechanic Nick is stoked about it. ⚒️ 😂

When he’s not getting stuck in here, or stuck on his Surf (IYKYK 🤪), you’ll find him and his partner running Sip Caravan Bar on the weekends - and while the marketing lady might be self proclaimed *useless* on the tools - she can confidently say the Sip van gets her tick of approval. Priorities ✅

He’s slotted into the crew pretty bloody well already, and we’re stoked to have him around.

If you see the dreads floating around the workshop, be sure to say G’day 👋

And don’t worry Nick, the marketing lady has years of photos and knowledge on you for the next post 🤭

They say third time’s the charm.. and that’s exactly how many visits Andy has made to us here at Bay 4X4 Centre this year!

One upgrade at a time, we’ve been helping transform his rig into the ultimate touring setup.

🛡️ Visit 1? The ARB Summit MKII bull bar - adding serious front-end protection while providing a strong mounting platform for the accessories he already had.

⚡️ Visit 2? A Safari 4X4 Armax Performance ECU - Unlocking improved engine performance, increased torque, and smoother power delivery for a more responsive and enjoyable drive, whether towing or touring.

⛰️ Latest upgrade? Installing Old Man Emu’s Nitrocharger Suspension - he can now ride in comfort with improved handling and vehicle stability, and bonus it’s improved his load carrying capabilities!

Each visit brings this build one step closer to the ultimate touring rig, and we can’t wait to see what upgrade comes next 😎
