Happy Thursday folks!

Well these new fangled variable compression valve setups sure are confusing! 🤣 In all seriousness however, this heavy diesel engine has dropped 2 exhaust valves unfortunately and then the pistons have closed those valves back up. Some in depth checks on yhe severity of the damage are required, and all going well, some new valve train components and machine work will get the cylinder head back to rights.

Happy Friday all!

Well when we said "take a seat" this isnt what we meant. Unfortunately when we removed the intake off this engine and the shrapnel remains of a piston rings and valve seat fell out of the manifold, it was never going to be a happy story. There will be a lot of very in depth checks on this one to find the cause and assess the damage.

Well its the weekend folks!

And a busy short week its been! Especially getting the machining done on this RB30 for Kvl Tattooer. As you can see its gotten some attention. With 3 angle valve seats cut, kelford cam, great finish on the deck and cylinder head face, polished crankshaft and a clearance check done on the mains and big ends, (on some epic spool conrods) it will be off to get assembled shortly. Having the strength where it counts, this is going to be one sweet power unit.

Happy Wednesday folks!

Well not all milkshakes are good and this headgasket giving up the ghost has definitely caused a bit of a problem! The milkshake effect is caused by the oil and water mixing and creating an emulsion. So now its on to checking the cylinder head out and making sure no damage was caused by the failure and overheat.

Happy Tuesday folks!!!

The mornings are definitely getting cooler letting us know its not summer anymore! But regardless of the weather, its full steam ahead in the machine shop today, as we put together this 1HD Landcruiser engine. With the bottom end all machined and the shortblock assembled itson to the cylinder head getting refreshed, then its all back together and back into the vehicle to get back out on the road again!
