A LITTLE PIECE OF DUNEDIN MOTORCYCLING HISTORY 🏁

These fantastic old photos take us back to 1947 at the Amo Track in Kaikorai Valley, Dunedin, where motorcycle racing took place in the years following WWII.

The track got its name from the area’s use as an ammunition dump during WWII, before becoming a place where some of Dunedin’s early motorcycle racers came to test themselves and their machines.

Looking at these photos, the bikes, riding gear and surroundings may have changed enormously, but the passion for motorcycles and racing certainly hasn’t.

A pretty special glimpse back at where part of Dunedin’s motorcycling story was being written more than 80 years ago.

If anyone recognises a rider, bike or remembers more about racing at the Amo Track, we’d love to hear the stories.
