I've had a few people asking if I'll be increasing the price of lessons as fuel at the pumps rise. The answer is, NO. The rising price of fuel has only been for a short while so far. I'm hoping this upward spiral will not last too long into the future before it begins to return to normal.

Most of you have probably heard that the Driving tester strike on Friday 20th Feb has been cancelled. An agreement has been reached.

From 9 March 2026, all learner drivers presenting for test will need to show evidence
that they are insured to drive the vehicle they will use for their test. This evidence will
need to be shown, on the day, to the driver tester conducting their test and can be in the
following format:

• A certificate of insurance naming the learner driver as covered, and

• Where the learner driver is not named on the certificate of insurance, an email /
letter (on headed paper) from their insurance company stating that the person is
covered, for the vehicle registration, and the day of the test, or

• Where the learner driver is using an Approved Driving Instructors or School of
Motoring vehicle, a copy of the certificate of insurance (front and rear) showing
that the appropriate insurance is in place for the purpose of a driving test.

o Where this information is not visible on the certificate, an accompanying
letter on headed paper outlining this detail.

This new measure is being introduced to mitigate the risk of a driver tester being in a vehicle with an uninsured driver.
