I spent a few hours today working on the main undercarriage legs. I have one new leg and a pair of old US legs. I made another good leg up with the US pair and have transferred all the brake pipes and fairings over. Will give them a good clean and paint touch up before they get fitted.

This afternoon I paid a visit to see the guys at Speke aerodrome heritage group prior to the aircraft move and to see where the Devon will be parked. I’m looking forward to having this art deco building as its backdrop as it’s planned to be parked right outside the main building for lots of guests at the hotel to see.

She’ll fit in well at Speke and a great place for the public to see her.

Cabin lamp bulkheads removed for a paint strip, repaint and led conversion. These will be on a lot when on show so conversion to led to keep the heat down.

I love sitting in the Devon having a coffee. 😆 ☕️ 💨

Fuselage insulation cut and fitted. Still need to tape the edges then onto the faux vinyl roof covering. I need to get this in place as the vinyl fits up and around the two emergency hatches and I need to seal these off prior to exterior painting. Looking forward to seeing this cabin finished.

I’d like to try and find some Devon / Dove cabin seats. If anyone here knows of any available please could you let me know. Many thanks.

I’ve finally found my very own padded cell. I need it taking this project on! 😆

So on with some cabin re-insulation since my window job was cancelled.
I’ve decided to use this campervan multifoil insulation. Looks great, very easy to fit, performs well, reflects heat outwards and doesn’t degrade. I plan to seal all the edges with some foil tape once it’s all cut into place. Will also make the cabin look tidy until I get round to the vinyl covering.

Well well well who’d have thought! So I set upon removing the last 3 screws holding in the stbd side Perspex to change for a new one and low and behold the new one doesn’t fit! It’s smaller in places. 🫣
So onto plan B now and I’ve got to form one myself with some heat moulding acrylic.

Some new updated news. It’s just been confirmed tonight that VP955 will now be joining the aircraft collection at Speke Aerodrome Heritage Group in Liverpool.

The change of home has happened because of my near location to Speke and being unable to run a maintenance team and carry out the maintenance required in Shropshire at the chetton Museum. Family life is just too busy to find the time to play with aeroplanes away from home so Speke ticks all the boxes. It’s a well established museum, its near, it has a good volunteer group and it’s easily accessible to the public to go and see her. 👍

My plans are that it will move this summer and rebuilt as a fully working but not ground running exhibit. Non running engines will be fitted and the running engines stored as you just don’t know what’s round the corner to it being a runner again.
Fuselage painting is about to commence and once this is complete it’s time for the move.

Will keep you all updated when I know more. Thanks for following.
