Recently I've had a lot of queries asking if you can use third party sites to manage your driving tests. The following information must be followed to ensure no disappointment and fear of cancellation of your driving test not booked through proper channels.
Under strict new rules introduced by the DVSA, using third-party apps, automated bots, or cancellation finders to book or manage your practical driving test is against the law and strictly prohibited.
You must book, change, or cancel all tests yourself using the Official GOV.UK Driving Test Service.
Key Rule Changes:
No Third-Party Access: Only you can book or manage your test. Driving instructors, family members, or unofficial companies are banned from doing this for you.
No Cancellation Finders: Using apps or websites that continually scan the DVSA system (using bots) is explicitly banned.
Booking Limits: You are only allowed to change your test booking a maximum of twice. If you need to change it a third time, you must cancel your booking completely and rebook from scratch.
Location Restrictions: You can only move your test to one of the three test centres closest to your initial booking.
Risks of Using Unofficial Apps: Even though some third-party apps previously helped learners find earlier dates, using them today carries heavy penalties:
Bookings Cancelled: The DVSA actively monitors for bot activity. If they detect that an app accessed the system on your behalf, they will cancel your driving test altogether.
Restricted Access: You may be banned from booking online and forced to handle your test bookings solely via telephone.
Scams & High Fees: Many unofficial platforms have been shut down for charging inflated prices (sometimes hundreds of pounds) and breaching personal data security.
How to Find Earlier Tests: Since you are no longer permitted to use automated apps, the safest and only allowed way to move your test forward is to check the official Book and manage your driving test page manually.
