An exciting end to last week here at Toy Barn Automotive! 🔧

We’ve expanded our workshop capabilities with the installation of a brand-new vehicle lift, and it certainly didn’t take long to put it to work.

The first vehicle on the new ramp? A rather smart Range Rover, in with us for a full service and comprehensive maintenance check.

Another busy week at Toy Barn Automotive 🔧

It’s been a packed week in the workshop, with a combination of comprehensive servicing, in-depth diagnostic work and a full dashboard removal - all part of keeping these vehicles performing exactly as they should.

⚠️ A dashboard full of warning lights doesn’t always mean a major mechanical failure ⚠️

This vehicle arrived with multiple warning messages, but after carrying out a full diagnostic assessment, the root cause was traced to a faulty ABS wheel speed sensor. A single failed sensor can disrupt communication between multiple control modules, triggering several warning lights across the dashboard.

After replacing the faulty sensor with a genuine Landrover part and clearing the fault codes, the system was fully restored and the customer was back on the road.

Gearbox fault diagnosed and repaired 💥

This Discovery Sport was recovered to us with a loss of drive. Following our standard diagnostic procedure, including fault code analysis, live data evaluation and hydraulic system checks, we identified the fault as an internal gearbox failure.

Further investigation confirmed the root cause was transmission fluid degradation. The degraded oil had compromised hydraulic pressure and oil supply within the transmission, resulting in internal component failure and loss of drive.

The repair involved:
• Replacement Reconditioned JLR Transmission
• Genuine JLR transmission fluid
• Clutch adaptation and calibration using manufacturer-level diagnostics
• Post-repair road testing and final system checks

The vehicle is now operating exactly as it should and has been returned to the customer, ready for many more miles.

Regular transmission servicing is often overlooked, but maintaining fluid quality is critical to the performance and longevity of modern automatic gearboxes

A Busy end to the week at Toy Barn Automotive ☀️🥵

This lovely Range Rover Sport came to us with a coolant leak. Following a thorough inspection, we identified coolant loss within the vehicle and discovered that the heater matrix had previously been tampered with. After removing the front carpets, we found leaking heater hoses and evidence of an incorrect prior repair.

The only correct and permanent solution was to replace the heater matrix in accordance with the official JLR repair procedure, which requires complete dashboard removal.

Several hours later, the new heater matrix was installed, the dashboard refitted, and the interior restored to factory condition - you would never know we had been there.

A final coolant pressure test confirmed the repair was successful, and the vehicle was returned to its owner ready for the road.
