September is traditionally one of the busiest periods for MOT testing in the UK, with a large number of vehicles needing their annual test around this time.

That means one thing…

👉 The closer we get to your expiry date, the harder it may be to get the day and time you actually want.

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

You don’t necessarily need to wait until your MOT expiry date.

You can have your MOT carried out up to one month (minus a day) before it expires and still keep the same renewal date for next year.

So if your MOT is due in September, check the date now and get ahead of the rush. 🚗✅

He mentioned that a very dirty vehicle — or not having enough fuel to carry out the emissions test — can potentially result in a refusal to test.

And that gives us a perfect opportunity to explain an important difference:

🔴 REFUSAL TO TEST
The MOT test cannot be properly carried out, so the tester may refuse to proceed.

❌ MOT FAIL
The vehicle has been tested and something does not meet the required MOT standard.

In our quiz, low tyre tread was the answer because tyre tread below the legal minimum can result in an MOT failure.

🛞 The legal minimum tread depth for cars is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, around its entire circumference.

So Jared— great observation! 👏
