Before a warranty company pays out, someone has to find the fault and prove it. Then the claim gets chased: reports, photos, phone calls, sometimes days of back and forth. Plenty of policies don't pay for that part, which is why there's a fee before the repair starts.

That's the oil pickup out of a Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost we had in. All those bits are wet belt.

The cambelt on these engines runs in the oil. As it wears it frays and sheds, and the bits get carried round until they clog the pickup. Less oil gets through, and that's how engines end up wrecked.

We now do Ford wet belts here. New belt, timing set with the right locking tools, priced before we start.
