🚨 DVSA TEST BOOKING SERVICE UPDATE 🚨

If you’re planning to book, change or cancel your practical driving test, please be aware that the DVSA booking service will be unavailable for planned maintenance from:

📅 6pm Thursday 5 November
to
📅 6am Friday 6 November

What this means for you:

✅ You will not be able to book, change or cancel your practical driving test during this time.

✅ If you need to make any changes, try to do so before 6pm on Thursday.

✅ Earlier appointments may still appear outside this maintenance period.

✅ Always check your instructor’s availability before changing your test date.

This is only a temporary DVSA service interruption, but it’s worth planning ahead if your test is coming up.

Tony and Chris have both been absolutely amazing throughout my driving lessons. They have been incredibly helpful, patient and supportive, making the whole learning experience so much more enjoyable. They always took the time to explain things clearly, build my confidence and make sure I felt comfortable behind the wheel. I had manual lessons with Driving Skills Academy in Kettering with Adrian. At the beginning, the thing I worried about most was roundabouts. What helped me most was that calm and was clear with instructions. I improved most with confidence. By the end, I passed. I'd happily recommend Driving Skills Academy to nervous learners. My son has just passed with Adrian - Enjoyed every lesson and with Adrian’s calm approach to lessons really made a difference and put my son at ease . Would highly recommend.

🚧 WATCH OUT FOR ROADWORKS! 🚗

Driving Skills Academy – Learner News Update
📅 Week commencing 26 October 2026

Chris has been busy putting out traffic cones this week! 😂 But there’s some important news for learner drivers across Northamptonshire.

🚦 LOCAL ROADWORKS

Roadworks and temporary restrictions are planned around:

📍 Northampton – Bridgewater Drive, Overstone Road and Spinney Hill Road.

📍 Moulton – Overstone Road and surrounding roads.

📍 Kettering/Desborough – A6 restrictions.

Allow extra time for journeys, follow temporary road signs and be prepared for changing traffic conditions. Your instructor may adjust your lesson route.

📅 DRIVING TEST BOOKINGS

DVSA continues releasing new practical test appointments each Monday.

Remember:
✅ Earlier appointments can become available throughout the week.
✅ You don’t need to join the Monday 6am queue just to find cancellations.
✅ Always check your instructor’s availability before changing your test.
✅ Being ready is more important than getting the earliest possible date!

🌙 DARKER EVENINGS, SAFER DRIVING

The clocks have gone back, so more journeys will take place in darkness.

💡 Check you’re using the correct headlights.
👀 Keep your windscreen clean to reduce glare.
🚗 Slow down appropriately when visibility is reduced.
⚠️ Don’t rely entirely on automatic headlights.

Ask your instructor about practising driving in darkness when you’re ready.
