With fuel prices rising it’s never been a better time to practice driving economically.
Use the highest gear possible without letting the car labour.
Employ block changing to reduce the number of gear changes
Accelerate and brake smoothly by planning ahead.
The most economical speed to drive at is usually about 55 mph depending on the car. Basically keep the car revs as low as possible but don’t irritate other drivers by driving too slowly.
Make sure your tyres are at the correct pressure.
Remove all unnecessary items from your car and remove roof racks when not in use.
When waiting in a queue of traffic switch off the engine if waiting more that 30 seconds ( use stop start technology if available)
