In a world where regular maintenance is key, if you own a Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost or any wetbelt engine in general, this is a post you really should read.

No matter what mileage your car has covered, the 1.0 EcoBoost wet belt engine (and, in fact, any wet belt engine) can suffer from the same common problem.

As the belt ages, it slowly starts to break down. Tiny particles contaminate the engine oil and eventually block the oil pick up strainer exactly like the photos below. Once that happens, the engine is starved of oil, and what starts as a deteriorating timing belt can quickly turn into a complete engine failure.

This isn't something to ignore or put off until it starts making noises. Prevention is always far cheaper than replacing an engine.

If you've recently bought your Fiesta, don't know when the wet belt was last changed, or it has no evidence of ever being replaced, now is the time to get it checked.

Whether your car has covered 20,000 miles or 120,000 miles, you may want to look into getting it done.
