We're all familiar with that early morning frost on the windows, but don't forget that a low battery is the #1 cause of winter non starts. Cold temperatures and dark commutes (needing lights, heating and wipers all at once) put massive strain on your vehicle's battery.

Try this: Before you turn your car off at the end of the day, switch off all accessories like lights, heater, wipers etc. This makes it easier for the battery to turn the engine over on the next cold start.

Inspect Your Tyres: Stopping distances increase significantly on cold, wet, leaf covered roads - make sure your tread depth is well above the legal limit.

Myth vs. Fact: Do I really need to check my tyres if the TPMS light isn't on?

MYTH! Your car’s Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is a brilliant safety feature, but it usually only alerts you when a tyre has lost around 20-25% of its pressure.

On wet autumn roads covered in slippery leaves, even a minor drop in pressure or worn tread depth can drastically increase your stopping distance!

Quick Tip: Grab a 20p coin and insert it into the main tread grooves of your tyres. If the outer band of the coin is hidden, your tread is above the legal 1.6mm limit.
