And the Clown of the Month Award Goes To…

So, quick background info:

A gentleman phoned last Friday. To be fair, it was a bad line, and there was a small language barrier, which didn’t make things any easier.

I politely asked him to pop down to explain the fault in person, and the vehicle was booked in for the 15th (Thursday).

On Monday, he turns up saying the car is undriveable and not safe to drive.

I said, “Leave it here, and we’ll get onto it on Thursday.”

We had a cancellation, so my diagnostic tech took a look and produced a report.

At some point in the space-time continuum, the EGR valve had failed, and the inlet manifold, EGR cooler, and throttle body were completely full of carbon.

We phoned Toyota, and the replacement parts were a huge cost. But we were pretty confident we could recover the components using our specialist ultrasonic baths (which we have).

So, I gave him two choices:

New items
Clean the existing items
Option 2 was half the price, by the way — which he agreed to and gave us the go-ahead.

It was clear he didn’t really want to spend any money and had a little whinge. We get it.

Times are hard and cash is tight. It’s all good.

He rang up yesterday asking if his car was ready.

When he was told it would only be ready tomorrow, he lost it — swearing, abusive, rude, and downright nasty.

Well out of order.

Then we read his review.

He’s brave.

What a beautiful day, down at Eldon.

The sun is shinning.

Lots going on in the work shop….. clutch replacement on a ford focus. Volvo having inlet manifold work and new injectors. Routine service work and maintenance.
