⚡ DVSA UPDATE FOR ELECTRIC VANS ⚡

From 1 June 2026, fully electric goods vehicles with a gross weight between 3,501kg and 4,250kg will require a Class 7 MOT.

🚐 Applies to:
Battery electric and hydrogen-powered goods vehicles only.

❌ Does NOT apply to:
Hybrid vehicles or range extenders with petrol, diesel or LPG engines.

📅 First MOT:
Due 3 years after first registration.

🛞 Key testing changes:
• Speed limiter checks now required
• Minimum tyre tread depth increases to 1.6mm

✅ Why this matters:
• More testing capacity at Class 7 MOT stations
• Easier access to MOTs for electric commercial vehicles
• Supports the move to zero-emission fleets
