🚗📍 Taking your driving test from Portsmouth Test Centre?

We’ve just uploaded another short video looking at a few road layouts around the local test area that can easily catch learners out.

There are three different moments in this video where the road doesn’t necessarily look quite how you might expect it to.

None of them are particularly difficult once you understand what the signs and markings are telling you.

The challenge is spotting the information early enough and making sense of it while you’re actually driving.

That’s what this series is all about.

We’re taking unusual or commonly misunderstood local situations, slowing them down and explaining the thinking behind them so that you can apply the same skills wherever you drive.

🚗📍 Taking your driving test around Portsmouth & Fareham? This one is worth watching.

I’ve just uploaded another short local test-area video, this time looking at two moments in Fareham town centre that regularly catch learners out.

One is a section where you must turn left because the road ahead becomes a bus lane.

The other is a little further on, where you have to follow the road round to the left because ahead is no entry.

Once you know they’re there, both are pretty straightforward.

The problem is that in a busy high street, with people, traffic, crossings, side roads and sometimes faded markings, it’s surprisingly easy to miss the information.

That’s what these videos are for.

We’re not teaching people to memorise test routes. We’re taking tricky, unusual or easy-to-miss local situations and helping learners understand how to recognise and deal with them properly.

🚗📍 Taking your driving test in Portsmouth? You’ll want to see this one!

I’ve just uploaded the first video in a new series looking at some of the trickier roads, junctions and roundabouts around the Portsmouth test area.

First up: Bedhampton Roundabout.

It’s a complex spiral roundabout, signs are hidden in trees, road markings are often faded, lane changes are required and the volume of traffic can feel overwhelming at times

In the video I talk you through:

🚦 The approach from a high speed road
👀 What signs and road markings to look for
🔄 How the spiral lanes work
🚗 When (and more importantly, why) you need to change lane
📍 How to make sure you’re positioned correctly for your exit

This series isn’t about memorising test routes. It’s about helping learners understand some of the more unusual local situations so they’re better prepared to deal with them properly.
