FROM CHILD PRODIGY TO HERITAGE MASTER
Some people discover their passion early.
Others live it every day for the next 50 years.
Back in the 1970s, a young Ian Walley made the local press as an 11-year-old mechanical wizard. While most children were playing with toys, Ian was building engines, fabricating parts, and creating machinery in his workshop. Even then, his talent was impossible to ignore.
Fast forward more than five decades and not much has changed.
The second photograph shows Ian doing what he has always done best—pushing engineering to the limit.
Wheelstanding his legendary Self built Prostreet drag car, proving that his passion for performance is every bit as strong today as it was when he first made the headlines.
At The GTR Heritage Centre, Ian is much more than a technician.
He is the man behind many of our most complex engine builds, restorations and engineering projects. The individual our team turns to when experience matters.
The craftsman whose knowledge has been earned through a lifetime spent with engines, machinery and motorsport.
You cannot buy experience.
You cannot fast-track knowledge.
You cannot replace over 50 years of engineering dedication.
From an 11-year-old mechanical genius featured in the newspapers, to one of the most respected GT-R specialists in the country, Ian's journey is a reminder that true expertise is built over a lifetime.
We're proud to have him as part of the Heritage family.
Ian Walley. Engineer. Racer. Mentor. Heritage Master.
