Best Land Rover Defender builder in the UK — asked at our own stand, he named someone else.

We said we'd cut it. We didn't.

The honest version is that the classic Defender build scene is full of good workshops and everyone has a favourite. We'd rather show the answer we didn't want than pretend everyone at the show named us.

Defender vs quad bike on a farm — the one job the quad can't do.

Everyone we spoke to at the Game Fair said quads and side-by-sides have taken the farm work off the Land Rover Defender. Then Chris pointed out you can't tow a trailer full of sheep on a quad bike.

It's the strongest defence of the classic Defender as a working vehicle anyone gave us all weekend, and it came from someone who owns one.

Havana flip paint on a Land Rover Defender — one car, two colours.

Jeep Wrangler vs Land Rover Defender — a Defender specialist tried both.

When Land Rover announced classic Defender production would end in 2016, Nene Overland had to work out what came next. For a while the answer was Jeep, with 15 to 20 brand new Wranglers in the yard.

It taught them what a brand is actually worth. The Wrangler does plenty well and some things better. It just doesn't attract the same customer, and in the UK the badge isn't there.
