Meet Millie – our tiniest mechanic in the making! 💕

She popped in to visit Daddy at work and clearly decided it was time to get stuck in.
She came ready to clock in. Overalls on, tools in hand, and already supervising the workshop like a pro 👩‍🔧✨

We’re not saying she’s ready to service your car just yet… but she’s already mastered the most important skill – looking adorable while holding a spanner! 🛠️😄

Give it a few years and she’ll be running the place!

The challenge? Getting the ice cream van back on the road before the heatwave hit.

It came to us with a snapped bolt in the tensioner, after a previous garage hadn’t refitted it properly. That meant a blocked screw hole, a pulley that wouldn’t hold, and a job that needed more care than a double flake on a hot day.

After some patience (and a bit of creative thinking), we got the tensioner sorted, fitted a new pulley and radiator, and got him back out doing what he does best — bringing joy (and Mr Whippies) to the streets of Midlothian.

Because when the ice cream man’s off the road… nobody’s happy. 🍦🚐

No overalls. No tools. Just four paws and a tail that won’t quit.

Today’s top technician is keeping morale high, checking for crumbs in the break room, and supervising every job from a comfy patch of sun.

We’re not saying she’s the most productive member of the team... but she’s definitely the most popular.

You don’t see a classic Porsche 911 every day – so when this beauty rolled in (on the back of an recovery truck), we knew it had a story.

It had cut out unexpectedly while driving. Would turn over, but wouldn’t start. Understandably, the owner feared the worst.

But at Spanner Time, we like a puzzle. After some investigation, Richard traced the issue to a burned-out wire near the fuse box. It had deteriorated over time and was stopping fuel from reaching the engine.

New wire fitted, key turned… and it fired straight up. Just like that.

Not every job is glamorous – but this one was. And it’s always a pleasure helping keep a classic on the road.

🚐💨 Meet the Van That Had to Make It to the Crufts qualifiers🐾

This week, we had a visit from someone who needed more than just a quick fix – she needed a lifeline.

After being let down by two other garages who couldn’t get to the bottom of her brake issue, Nicole from Bella Walks (a local dog walker and Crufts competitor!) brought her van to Spanner Time. It arrived full of determination… and unfortunately, full of air in the brake lines.

She’d been training hard for the Crufts qualifiers, with this weekend’s competition in sight – but without her van, the journey (and all that time and effort) was at risk.

She called us, dropped in the same day, and Richard got to work. Brakes bled, air out, confidence restored. No faff. Just a proper job done with care.

We’re not just here for vehicles – we’re here for the people who rely on them.

🚗 Nicole, thank you for trusting Spanner Time Garage, and best of luck at the Crufts qualifiers – we’ll be cheering you on! 🐶
