This car! Is this the best 5 turbo I have seen, easy and yes. Is this the best 5 turbo full stop, well subjective but prove me wrong and this was when it arrived.
Now in the build stages of a complete disassemble and reassemble with rebuilt engine, gearbox and all drive systems. An 1800km all aluminium 5 turbo in Olympus blue and with request of all our latest +1 modular upgrades. It will be light as we always make them lighter and it will be fast as we always make them faster, it will also be gone as it goes back to undisclosed location in France but will be used….sparingly.

Cobra build gets beautifully foiled to within an inch of its life partly to protect brake/clutch/battery systems and partly to keep the squishy bit in the middle cool and functioning!
The car has got way simpler and much lighter just through logic in build and is shaping up to be pretty racy. It will be sub 1000kgs that’s for sure which is good going as it is not a new build chassis or body.

We are gunning for the finish line now and chasing all the last laborious snag lists, given what we had to begin with it’s looking pretty sharp today and carries some serious components on board.
Those zinc yellow dampers are DeCarbon adjustable rate coil overs a factory Renault-sport Group 4 part, very unusual and restored some years back to full function with variable rate springs on the rear.

So much progress in the last couple of weeks with a project that has sat for so long. The interior now looking pretty sharp as I stubbornly refused to fit a modern carpet set. I did however go with a new headlining as they are very good and look the part when final trimmed and glued. Some insulation now as that has crumbled its last and hunting for one of my iso delta steering wheels has paid off so it’s starting to get there, good recovery.

This car was as poor as I had seen a purchase

Car building weekend - Renault 5 turbo goes back together beautifully, while the boys are away racing at Snetterton I decided to get some hours in back at base to try and claw back lost time.

The Ferrari Luca hasn’t gone down well and not surprising really given a 50 year old Ferrari sounds like this. Pending an even bigger noise with the new engine inbound so let’s not forget our datum point and take a minute for the Columbo gear driven quad cam V12.

Renault 5 turbo 2 spending its last few days on stands before it hits the road for the first time, snag list city but we will get through those and make sure it delivers. It’s actually been a while since I have been out in a 5 turbo so this will be a wake up call as I am expecting it to be strong. Plenty of unknowns still but from a bad eBay buy to a proper period hot rod.

Hmm I have fomo - deciding to stay at the workshop and do a weekend stint on the 5 turbo pairing while the boys and fly the flag with Healey and GTAm. Snetterton set up in the party garage looks sweet and I know they are all over it. Thank you both 🤌🏽💪🏽

Cobra foundations getting laid down and surveyed end of day - yes we are behind but some forward thought always helps so it’s Lego at the moment and sub assembled sections make life easier. Lots of panel work to insulate but I can see the direction even if we are making it up as we go.
