Thanks to a meeting organised by Visit Pembrokeshire at Port of Milford Haven, attended by the RNLI, we are now signed up as official RNLI ambassadors. It's shocking to know that there were 202 accidental drownings last year and a direct correlation between deaths by drowning and periods of hot weather. Their new campaign is 'Float To Live' - basically encouraging anyone who finds themselves in the water in unexpected circumstances, to put your head back, get your ears under the water and try to relax. They recommended trying it in a pool or safe situation to know what it feels like. And of course, even better, make sure you’re wearing a lifejacket or bouyancy aid and always have some means of communication with you such as a mobile phone or VHF radio.
As ambassadors, it's all about sharing the messages with our followers and you sharing it with someone else.

The Beating of the Bounds is one of the great traditions on our waterway, with a fantastic turnout of vessels expected as the Mayor of Haverfordwest leads the ceremonial journey upriver to mark the historic fishery boundaries. It's always a brilliant sight to see so many boats enjoying the river together.

🚣‍♀️🌊 Cleddau River Marathon Row – Today’s the Day! 🌊🚣‍♂️

At 2:30pm today, 26 crews will set off from Dale and race the full length of the Cleddau to Haverfordwest in one of the most scenic — and gruelling — rowing events in Wales.

The boats will be visible from a number of locations along the waterway as they make their way upriver, or you can head to Haverfordwest and cheer them across the finish line.

🏆 Who will be first to cross the line? - comment with your prediction!

We're proud to be sponsoring the event and hope to be out on the water ourselves, waving and cheering on the competitors as they pass the halfway point.

As the builders of the Celtic Longboats used in the race, it's fantastic to see so many competitive teams taking part. Crews have travelled from across Pembrokeshire and beyond, including Fishguard, Llangwm, Llanion, Newport, PYC, Wisemans Bridge, Dale, South Wales Coastal, Aberystwyth, Coastal Barbarians, North Staffs, Clevedon and Conwy.

More than anything, it's great to see so many clubs enjoying the Milford Haven Waterway on what looks set to be a glorious day. ☀️🌊

Good luck to all the crews taking part — enjoy the race, the views, and hopefully a favourable tide!

Built by us as a leisure vessel over 25 years ago, our own DALE Nelson 38 is now part of our commercial fleet and still going strong.

She’s been working on charter in Cardiff for a film company and heading back to Pembrokeshire yesterday in some full-on conditions off Barry, with wind against tide and a lumpy swell.

Ben, one of our skippers, commented “I’d probably have turned around and gone back, had we not been in our Nelson.”
She’s a special boat with that special Nelson hull, with proven pilot boat credentials to get you in comfort and safety, to where you need to be.
